About WorldSkills

A global phenomenon, WorldSkills is the highlight of the international skills calendar. This biennial event brings together 48 member countries to pit the skills of their chosen competitors against the best the world has to offer. The competition is also open to visitors who can get a close up view of competitors as they battle it out against the clock. London won the right to host WorldSkills in 2011, making the event more prominent than ever for UK industry and education.

About the WorldSkills UK Floristry national competition

WorldSkills UK provides over 70 quality assured skills competitions for different industries. Run annually, these competitions encourage young people and adults across the UK to excel in their vocation of choice.

The best competitors may then be selected to compete internationally at WorldSkills.

Regional competitions for trainee florists are taking place across the UK between May and June 2008, culminating in a grand final held at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Flower Show, Tatton Park between23rd and 24th July 2008.

The top-scoring competitors will demonstrate their skills in the competition area of the British Florist Association (BFA) marquee at the RHS Flower Show, Tatton Park. Competitors will create their entries live throughout the show – with the winner being announced on Sunday 27th July.

Why get involved?

These trainee florists are the future of the industry. You can show your support for this new talent simply by joining us at the national final at Tatton Park in July.

If you work in the floristry industry, your involvement could also help to develop trainees and generate valuable PR for your business. There are a number of different ways you can provide direct assistance to competitors, including:

− Nomination and release of potential competitors
− Sponsorship of regional and national competitions
