The British Florist Association are committed to protecting your privacy. We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 & subsequent revisions thereof). We collect information about you for two reasons: to process your order and to provide you with the best possible service.

We will not e-mail you in the future unless you have given us your consent (except to confirm orders).

We will give you the chance to refuse any marketing e-mail from us or from any other third party companies in the future.

The type of information we will collect about you includes:
your name
address
phone number
e-mail address
credit/debit card details

We will never collect sensitive information about you without your explicit consent the information we hold will be accurate and up to date. It is possible to obtain a copy of the information that we hold about you. If you find any inaccuracies we will delete or correct it promptly. The personal information which we hold will be held securely in accordance with our internal security policy and English law.

We may use technology to track the patterns of behaviour of visitors to our site. This can include using a "cookie" which would be stored on your browser. You can usually modify your browser to prevent this happening (for example, using Internet Explorer select 'internet options' from the 'tools' menu, then click 'security', followed by 'custom level' and select 'disable cookies').

The information collected in this way can be used to identify you unless you modify your browser settings.

Cookies are also used as a further means of ensuring private and secure purchase sessions are operated within the site.

Every time you connect to our website we store a log of your visit which shows the unique number your machine uses when it is connected to the internet (IP address). This tells us what you looked at; whether the page request was successful or not and which browser you use to view the pages. The use of this data is strictly for statistical purposes only. This helps us to understand which areas of the site are of particular interest and also which pages are not being requested. It also tells how many people are visiting the website in total.

We may amend this policy from time to time. 

Members company information and personal data

The company information furnished by the Member upon registration – specifically, the business name and contact information - shall be included after registration in the ‘Find a Florist’ on www.britishfloristassociation.org website.

By registering, the Member is consenting to its information being included in the Find Florist listing. The Member must bear in mind that, if the company information filled in by it also contains personal data, it shall also be giving permission to publish these in the listing.

If there are compelling reasons on the Member’s part for not including the Member’s company information in the Find a Florist, the Member may ask The British Florist Association not to post the aforementioned information or – if the information has already been posted – to remove the information from these websites. If the company information contains personal details, the Member may always ask The British Florist Association to remove these personal details - this may affect the listing viability.

If the Members BFA Membership elapses/expires, the company information shall no longer be visible in the Find a florist.

Members obligation

The Member must ensure at all times that the information included in its Find a Florirst profile is up-to-date and correct. If the Member’s company information changes, it must contact The BFA by emailing membership@britishfloristassociation.org with the necessary information to enable the adjustments of the information in its database.

Direct marketing

We, or third parties authorised by us, may, occasionally market to you, directly through any media to keep you informed of offers which may be of interest to you, this will only be information we think could benefit and interest you (unless you write to us by emailing membership@britishfloristassociation.org asking us to exclude you from such) and for our own administration, market analyses and operational reviews. (If you use more than one e-mail address to communicate with us, please notify us of each e-mail account you use).

We, or third parties authorised by us, will always act according to your wishes and preferences concerning direct marketing. Whenever we, or third parties authorised by us, directly market to you by email you will always have the option to unsubscribe from the mailing list. When by telephone or fax, we, and/or third parties authorised by us, will comply with any exclusions you have requested by emailing membership@britishfloristassociation.org as indicated above.
