CITY STREETS AND SUMMER SKIES

For  the  RHS  Chelsea  Flower  Show 2017  floral  kites of  many shapes  are  suspended from above, these are really striking against a blue summer sky backdrop - drawing the crowds more than ever!! The kites have to be '' at least 2/3 of  the  finished  design  must  be fresh flower and/or plant material. The fresh flower and/or plant material  must  be  visually dominant''.

DISPLAY MATERIAL - Exactly what the competitors are informed...

  • Accessories may be used. At least of 2/3 of the finished design must be fresh flower and/or plant material. The fresh flower and/or plant material must be visually dominant.
  • It is an expectation of the competition that all plant material will be in excellent condition.
  • You may use the following:
    • Minimal dyed and surface-coloured  plant material
    • Minimal dried plant material
    • Some manipulated (e.g. plaited, stapled, glossed, etc.) plant material.
  • Cultivated moss may be used.
  • Wild dug plants or moss are not permitted.
  • Artificial plant material is not permitted.
  • Where possible cut stems of all living plant material should be in water, or water retaining material, or their stems sealed for longevity.
  • The RHS asks that all competitors consider issues of environmental sustainability when sourcing and selecting cut flowers for display.
  • Conditions in the marquee can vary and competitors are reminded that fresh flowers/foliage and plant

material (using whatever technique) must last for the duration of the show or be restocked appropriately.

  • Competitors may include wiring, gluing or other modern floristry techniques.
  • Due to occasional gusts of wind through the marquee, plant material or accessories must be securely attached.
  • No plant material or accessories may extend beyond the limits of the allocated display area.
